About

Jamie Smith is a London born, Amsterdam based photographer, Voice Actor & Writer who’s work seeks to make sense of the world through an understanding the self, especially as someone whose identity is shaped by intersectionality yet rooted in a dominant hegemony (being brown and queer, but also male and English).

Exploring themes of masculinity, homo-eroticism, and representations of the other, with a focus on where these themes intersect with other identities and personal experiences. The exploration is both didactic and confessional, closely tied to Jamie’s own identity.

Colour and body language play crucial roles, seen as unspoken forms of communication that reveal much about a person—how they move or the spaces they occupy. These subtleties, more so than spoken words and narratives, provide deeper insights into identity, forming a central fascination within the work.
